Tableau Dashboard User Guides

The project was to create user guides for project and functional managers to easily navigate company Tableau dashboards to find important data and statistics.

What I Did:

I interviewed the engineers responsible for creating the dashboards as well as a few users who were experienced with using the dashboards. I then used what I learned to create guides that would make it easy for everyone else in the department to use the dashboards.

Deliverables:

I created a SharePoint page with sections dedicated to each featured dashboard. The guide highlighted how to find the dashboards, how to favorite them, how to use them to find the right information, and how to set up subscriptions so that the right information would be easily delivered to their email inboxes at the desired frequency. Screenshots and video were used throughout to make the process easier to follow.

Results:

Within two months after the publication of the guide, 90% of the functional managers in the department began consistently using Tableau to access purchase order and vouchering metrics. This freed up at least 2 hours per week from the operations manager’s schedule that had been spent manually exporting the data.
